Pinner Parish Church

Scott Hamilton (tenor sax)

Saturday 19th January 2019, 8:00pm

Pinner United Synagogue, HA5 5HJ

with John Pearce, Dave Green & Steve Brown

Scott Hamilton, with his golden tone, has long been amongst the world’s top jazz tenor saxophonists. He is American by birth and emerged on the New York scene in the 1970s. He has played throughout the world with all the big names in swing and modern mainstream jazz. Now based in Europe, he has two UK residencies each year and has become a big Pinner favourite. Tonight he will be accompanied by the trio with which he has worked over many years in the UK.

John Pearce will be on piano; described as gentle and lyrical and thoughtful, he is one of Britain’s most respected and versatile musicians.

Dave Green will be on Double Bass. Since his first public performances with childhood friend Charlie Watts in the late 1950s, Dave has been the bassist of choice for a whole string of jazz luminaries, including Humphrey Lyttelton, Stan Tracey and visiting US stars at Ronnie Scott's, including Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Roland Kirk and Sonny Rollins. He is versatile beyond belief, when you look at these names and realise that he is also a member of The ABC&D of Boogie Woogie, with Ben Waters, Axel Zwingenberger and Charlie Watts.

Steve Brown will be on drums. Steve began playing drums at age 14 and by the time he was 23 had become the first-call drummer in Manchester. Since coming to London he has worked with many of the world’s finest musicians, including Benny Golson, Benny Green, Junior Mance, John Bunch and Monty Alexander – and of course Scott Hamilton.

These four world-class musicians guarantee to bring us an evening of pure musical delight.
